  • Slotted Blades: If your 970-P plane has a screw-style adjustment, the blade must have a long central slot.
  • Solid Blades: If your plane uses a simple wedge or a pressure cap, a solid carbide-tipped blade will work perfectly.
  • Mouth Width: Because TCT blades are significantly thicker than standard steel blades, you may need to adjust the "frog" (the part the blade sits on) to open the mouth of the planer slightly wider so the shavings don't clog.
